NCTOH eReferral Poster_v1
This is 18-month project by the North American Quitline Consortium (NAQC) aimed at enhancing eReferral capacity among state quitlines to improve cessation services for priority populations. The project engaged four state teams through four phases: foundation and assessment, building eReferral capacity, demonstration, and dissemination and evaluation. Key lessons learned emphasized the variability of EHR vendor challenges, the critical role of strong partnerships and IT expertise, and the importance of thorough pre-engagement preparation with healthcare partners regarding HIPAA and insurance. The project’s outcomes, documented in case studies and fact sheets, are informing future steps, including scaling up eReferral in participating states, exploring eScript for medication prescriptions, and continuing the NAQC eReferral Workgroup to address ongoing challenges and opportunities in eReferral implementation.
